The Tidy Towns Award is Keep Australia Beautiful’s flagship program and has operated in Queensland since 1971. It is the most broadly contested program in Queensland, and each year hundreds of Queensland villages, towns, and cities enter this competition.
Applications are open to all Queensland local governments, community groups, environment and conservation groups, chambers of commerce, progress associations, service clubs, tourism organisations, businesses, community residents, school groups, sporting groups, scouts, guides and others.
Entrants are judged against the following criteria:
Environmental protection and innovation.
Cultural and Heritage activities.
Community partnerships and action.
Water and energy conservation.
The Tidy Towns competition is presented annually. It generally runs from January to September each year, with nominations called in January and closing in March. Each state has preliminary final before the Australian finals, so please contact your state ofice for specific opening and closing dates.
