This publication provides tourism operators with simple but effective ideas for working with local communities to achieve mutual benefits, improving social sustainability. The guidelines outline a simple seven step process to assist in establishing values, vision, goals and objectives, targeting relevant community groups, developing an action plan as well as monitoring and promoting successes in working with communities. The publication includes 12 case studies from around Queensland that highlight the simple ways in which operators and local governments have embraced their communities to the benefit of their operators.
